Happy Birthday Blake!

Our Blake man is now 7!! Blake's birthday just happened to be during spring break so we were able to do a little more then the usual take him to dinner. We ended up going to the Planetarium and seeing a 3D IMAX movie. Blake loved it, Luke hated it. I guess there is a difference between a 7 year old and a 2 year old. Blake's birthday celebration seemed to last for a week. Everyday for a week someone was stopping by with gifts for him. This kid is truly loved and very spoiled!

Blake was excited that his partner in crime, Savannah was able to join him.
Here they are on the moon.

Luke on the moon.
(I think it's time for a new camera, Luke normally does not have a crazy eye)

And here they are exploring Mars.

10 Years!

Circa 1998...
where it all began.

Time has flown by and the adventure has been awesome!!

Easter

I had to work the Saturday before Easter so Chad being the awesome dad he is, took the kids to an Easter egg hunt. He is better then me, it was so cold I would have never ventured out! The kids had a good time. I thought they got plenty, so this year the Easter Bunny didn't have to worry about getting any treats. He did bring them each some books, and they thought that was great!

It's that time of year...

I LOVE this time of year...only because I have a cookie addiction!
Chad jokes that he is going to come home from work one day and I am going to be passed out on the couch with a trail of chocolate drool and empty boxes of girl scout cookies all around...sounds dreamy! Bring on the cookie coma!

Winter Getaway

We were lucky enough to be able to join Chad on his last business trip to California. Because he and his brother Craig work for the same company, Kristi and I were able to turn their work trip into our own little vacation! We had a blast taking the kids to Disneyland, California Adventures, and the beach.
It ended up that all the Colyar grandkids were there the same week. We tried to meet up with Jackson but we never could make it work, we were bummed. Oh well, now we will just have to go again! The weather was great for the most part. We did get caught in some rain at times but our stroller covers worked wonders, and Kristi and I lost our pride and put on our plastic ponchos.
Luke thought he was so awesome that he got to drive a big car.

Blake can never get enough of the beach!
The beach cave we found at Laguna Beach.

The boys on the Tea Cups. I have never heard them laugh so hard!

Luke loved meeting all the characters! Blake has never liked anyone or anything in costume. But he was a good sport and joined the group for photos.

Toy Story Mania. One of Luke's favorite rides.

He's a Skier

Blake loves everything about the snow. I mentioned to Chad that he should take Blake skiing sometime this winter. Blake overheard the conversation and has been begging to go ever since. One of the perks of me having a job where I do, is that I have access to corporate ski passes, this makes it much easier to take a 6 year old skiing when it's already paid for.

Thursday we let Blake ditch school and head up to the slopes. The plan was for Chad and Blake to go try things out and then I would meet them up there for lunch and then bring Blake home... hoping he would last a half day. When I got up to the resort Blake was so excited to show me his skills! He was doing great. Chad was sending him down the hills all by himself. I thought for sure he would have been coming down between Chad's legs. I guess he's a natural! He could even get off the chair lift without falling...something I still can't do!

After lunch I told Blake it was time to leave, that way Chad could have a half day to actually enjoy his ski day. That did not go over well and Blake refused to come home with me. He was not done skiing. So I left them thinking they would be home shortly after me. Well to my surprise they stayed until the lifts closed! Blake had a blast and keeps asking when he can go again.

Christmas 2009

We had so much fun as a family during the holidays. It was sad to see it end. It's been an adjustment for Blake to get back into the swing of school. He did not like that his Christmas break ended so fast.
Making Gingerbread houses at Grandmas with Savannah.
Sugar cookies on Christmas Eve

Luke loved frosting the cookies then licking the knife and going back in for more frosting. He was able to score his own bowl of frosting and knife that no one else wanted to touch!

Blake was the official cookie cutter.

The boys were very excited that they got to open a present on Christmas Eve. Blake still has not figured out that the one they open on Christmas Eve has always and will always be PJ's. He was a little disappointed that it was not something fun.
Luke never looked up from his train set. He didn't open another gift that morning. Blake was left to open all his gifts and Luke's. Blake thought that was awesome.

The one thing Blake asked for was an electric scooter. He couldn't believe he actually got one. Too bad the weather isn't nicer and he could ride it more.

Blake got a dart tag game, and apparently this guy takes his tag very seriously. He didn't care that I happened to be in the way of his target (Blake)...he took my head off anyway. They included goggles for a reason, these darts will take your eye out!
