Bed Head

This little man gets bed head more than anyone I know. The first problem is that he mainly grows hair on the top down the middle--literally a Mohawk! But it is not tame either I can comb his hair in the morning after his bath and 10 minutes later he is sporting this look.
He has had 2 or 3 hair cuts already but they are not working. I think that I am going to have to shave his head, or at least give him a great buzz cut until the little guy can grow some hair other than just the top. Because doing a little boys hair about 10 times a day is ridiculous and he is not a fan of hats. So until I get brave enough to take it all off, this is going to be your future Luke!

His Legacy Lives On

We just returned from my Grandfathers funeral in New Mexico. I have not been real familiar with anyone close to me dying until now. The last funeral that I attended was probably Chad's Grandma Nielsen and that was in 2003. So it has been a while, and my kids have never been to one. It was actually a really neat experience, very sad and hard to see someone you love so much go on to the next life, but an amazing experience to be able to honor the person for life they lived. My Uncle's are very good at wood working, something that their dad had taught them and they were able to make Grandpa's casket and since the girls are amazing at sewing they made the inside lining. It was so amazing to see a part of each one of his kids put their final touch on their dad's life.

Painting Again

When we moved into our house the entire upstairs was smurf blue.....for those of you that are too young to remember Smurfs how about Microsoft Windows blue, so blue that it hurts your eyes. And I mean everything the ceilings, closets, light switches, heating vent covers, closet doors, inside the closets, everything. Someone had to have gone up there with a sprayer and went to town. The person who did this is still probably smurf blue. Anyway, in a hurry to move in I just picked a neutral color and painted it all. After we moved all of our stuff in I did not like the new color for Blake's room. I was a bit afraid to tell Chad because we had spent a week painting it that color, and I was the one that insisted on just doing one color for the entire upstairs. Anyway, about one year later I mustered up the courage to tell Chad that it had to go and for his day off "we" were painting!! Like that good sport that he is he agreed and took on the challenge. I think that it turned out fantastic and Blake loves it. And even better yet Chad has a happy wife...what a lucky man!

Here Comes Trouble

Now that Luke can crawl apparently he can do many other things that I was not aware of...like unscrew finger nail polish bottles! I have no idea how he got it opened, or even found a bottle. But when I came across the mess the lid was unscrewed at it was everwhere. Blake was not home at the time or I would have thought maybe he helped out. I am just grateful for polish remover and that he happened to be on the tile floor!

Peas Please!

Blake loves to help feed Luke. Luke always makes the food sound so irresistible. With every bite he takes the food seems to taste better and better, and he is very vocal about it. I think that Blake thinks he is missing out on something really good and wants to be involved in making Luke so happy!

(to hear Blakes awesome sound effects you'll want to pause the music on the right side first.)

Luke was making the peas seem so good Blake just had to try them, he asked me if he could taste a little bit and I tried to tell him that even when he was a baby he would not eat them so why would he now. He insisted on giving it a little try....and the result was the same!

Snow Days

I have had enough of the snow. It's too cold and I am ready for some warm weather, but it just keeps coming! Blake on the other hand is in heaven! He get's so excited every time it snows and can't wait to go get his snow gear on and partake! The boy is crazy, one of his favorite things to do is to have Chad hook his sled up to the ATV and drag him around! He also loves his snow boots and will wear them everyday he can, if I would have known that the boots were going to be an accessory to his everyday fashion then I would have opted for the "Non-Napolean" moon boots. But whatever, Blakes favorite way to sport them is with his jeans above so people can see the whole thing. I am now kicking myself for buying them 2 sizes too big so that he could use them for several years to come...good one Kirsti! This is going to be a battle I'm guessing I won't win...gotta love little boys!

An Amazing Man

"Let us all try to stand a little taller, rise a little higher, be a little better. Make the extra effort. You will be happier."

What an amazing man. I am really going to miss his humor, and his great attitude about life! He will be greatly missed.
